Our very own student-run television station, SUSUtv, got in touch with us to tell you all about their upcoming events to tell you more about how you can get involved this year. We caught up with SUSUtv‘s Head of Publicity, David Williams, to find out the latest…

SUSUtv is Union Southampton’s¬†television station, and since I joined at the beginning of my first year, I’ve had the chance to learn skills in production, directing, editing and plenty more.

This week we’re holding our first two events of the academic year, which will give you a chance to really see what goes on at SUSUtv, with a tour of the studio and an introduction to our kit, and to participate in one of our Ideas and Production Meetings.

We’re entirely student-run have loads of equipment, from DSLR cameras and lights, to sound recording and live-streaming tech, which is all freely available for members to use. It’s free to join, but you do have to attend a basic training session. A group session is being run on Tuesday, which any UoS student can attend, whether you’re a member of not.

If you would like to join, you can either email StationManager@SUSU.tv or apply to join our Facebook ‘SUSUtv Members’ group!

And then on Thursday, it’s our first Production Meeting of the new year. This is when members get a chance to pitch new ideas and appeal for crew, or sign up to productions already in progress. There will also be chance to meet the Exec Team, who are the producers responsible for coordinating all our videos, and the Head of Production.
